Lead coach

Simo

Lead surf coach · Agadir, Morocco

Simo has led every Agadir Surf Club week since 2019. He reads the Atlantic forecast each evening, picks the morning break, and keeps groups at five so he can watch every takeoff. English, French, Arabic, and German on the sand.

How Simo runs a surf camp

No fixed schedule on the wall. Each day follows the same rhythm — forecast, session, debrief — with the break chosen for the people on the sand that morning.

  1. Morning

Read the forecast overnight. On the sand, pick the break — Anza, Agadir Beach, or up the coast.

  2. Session

Coach in the water and on the beach between sets. Pop-ups, paddle position, wave choice — by name.

  3. Debrief

Short notes before lunch: what to repeat tomorrow, what to drop.

“Five guests is the ceiling. At ten I watch the horizon; at five I watch your feet.” Simo

Three rules on the sand

Pick the wave first

Decision drills on the sand before anyone paddles.

Stay on one break longer

Three days on the same peak beats five names in five days.

Say no to hero spots

When reef is too heavy, we move to sand — no exceptions.

What you take home

Beginners leave reading wind on the water, choosing waves before paddling, and trimming on small green faces at Anza or Agadir Beach. Intermediates leave with cleaner turns and a clear sense of which local breaks fit their level. Simo writes a one-page note on the last day — what worked, what to practice next.
